Youth
Our youth ministry at St. James serves young adults in junior high and high school through various activities and events as well as Sunday morning Bible studies. Our goal is to have our youth grow both spiritually and in community with one another in preparation for leading independent lives. Friends are always welcome to join us for any of our scheduled events or activities.
Vacation Bible School
VBS is a day camp for children, which takes place at the beginning of June and end of August. Young adults in grades 7-12 are invited to volunteer. We need people to help with crafts, snack time, music and recreation. This is a great way to earn service hours for your school! Email Jennifer Donovan if you'd like to help.
Youth Night
Youth of the church and school community get together at St. James for a themed night of fun and fellowship. We play games, wear costumes and do all sorts of fun activities. While these events are a lot of fun, we also take time to learn about Jesus and our role as Christians in the world, often through drama or games. It’s also great way for the youth to spend time together as a group outside of the classroom in a safe and fun environment. Check the calendar for dates and time.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a process of a baptized individual making a confirmation of their baptism. Jesus says in Matthew 28, “Make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Historically, confirmation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church is based upon Luther’s Small Catechism. Our process follows this same tradition and adds a few components to help contextualize our life in faith in the 21st century. We have developed a list of short courses to be flexible for our busy schedules. Each session is offered on Sunday at 10:30 and repeated the following Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
